Are Superhero Movies Going to Last?

Comics movies have been a hilariously popular movie genre for the last two three years. With expansion of computer generated imagery, a.k.a CGI, and the shift of general audiences to blockbusters, superhero adaptations were the obvious choice. They have an amazing reservoirs of stories, they are entertaining for all ages and they are easy to consume.

But will their reign continue?

Spider-Man and X-Men on the beginning of 21st century proved, that adaptations of painted heroes could be a gold mine, but much of their potential, lying in the vast reservoir of comic books, remained unused. That didn't change much until 2005, when Marvel bit the bullet and started making their own movies, beggining with great Iron Man (2008), bad Incredible Hulk (2008), and other movies, which eventually led to amazing Marvel'sThe Avengers (2012)

That was the breaking point of today's popularity of superhero movies. This film alone, who ranked on the third place of highest-grossing movies ever, forced all major film producing companies to stop and ask themselves, why've they been ignoring this easy money for such a long time.

And the stream of new superheroes began to pour in. Warner Bros. revived their DC cinematic universe, with new Batman, Superman and other DC hero's movies coming, Fox is just continuing their current X-Men course and Sony revived Spider-Man again, now with worse movie qualities, but in a big style (new villain movies coming, there will be four new Spider-Man movies).

But I don't think their rule will last for long. There are just so many of them, and they don't extremely vary in their tone, setting, and mainly story (from an outsider there rises a hero, confronting newly risen threat, that aims to destroy all people on earth; yes, that's simplified, but it is quite right). I fear and think, that if they are not freshened by some interesting stories, they will just simply lose viewers. People are bored with getting the same stuff over and over, and if they continue on their current course, the'll fade in their glory.

Conclusion

To summarize, my opinion is, that current success of this genre won't be lasting very long, while viewers will look for something new and fresh.

Be sure to come more for new stories, and let me know in the comments what you think.
